CAREER SUMMARY
Madeline Wilmink is an artist and educator located in Toronto who designs work that reintegrates the wilderness into urban ecology. She is a sculptor and illustrator often working with organic specimens, metal inclusions, and hand sculpted elements. Wilmink received her BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and her MFA from Ontario College of Art and Design where she focused on incorporating ethnographic entomological research into public sculpture and designed objects. She has traveled throughout North America, helping run production pours with Felion studios, working for Carrie Blast Furnaces, teaching workshops to professional artists and students and exhibiting work within Galleries, Museums and International conferences. Madeline reconfigures the functional morphology of insects and other biological systems, reflecting on contemporary social structures and culture through bio-surrealist intervention. Her work is interdisciplinary, blending critical theory, museum studies, scientific inquiry, and craft.
