Cast Into Woman

Cast Into Woman is a series of boldly BDSM implements combining biomedical surgical models and functional design. A rejection of the sexualization, infantilization, and reduction of the feminine body. I took inspiration from the biological interior of the female body; stripping away the fleshy mounds and supple skin softening the edges of female genitalia and introducing them in steely metal. Female bodies suffer daily from the lack of research in Women's health and the overall disproportionate lack of interest and funding for biological burdens that exclusively impact Women. In cold polished aluminum, the bodily structures reflect the viewer, subverting their gaze and demanding attention to detail often dismissed. By harnessing confrontational metal sculptures to the typically fetishized female body the gaze is redirected. Through this collection, anatomy is converted into tools that can be used to establish dominance over a patriarchal society and protect and empower the user.
