Vermiform

Beneath our feet soil is restructured and oxygenated, worms transmute the dead, the discarded. Decay is material refinement, the network of species in our earth's lithosphere are apart of a cycle of matter shifting in state, the transfer of molecules and the reorganization of proteins, a reassignment of matter’s role in sustaining life in its many forms. Consumption, conversion; the worms within our soil spend their lives performing alchemical rituals- turning the remnants of life into new possibilities. Both the worm and the artist leave a legacy through material transfiguration. The metal casting practice is one of constant recycling, our furnaces are a gut; reprocessing material and transforming metal, compressing elements into forms that carry our will. These cast sculptures immortalize the cycles of material filtration and the practice of redefinition. I work in tandem with the worms- processing, shifting intentions, and cycling through matter to sustain my practice.
