BROOD X

Brood X is a project made in an effort to connect with systems of nature amidst a global pandemic that forces us to withdraw into ourselves and lose large aspects of our social identities. This work is a furniture collection that reinserts nature into interior spaces and uses insect imagery to promote personal maturation and community repair. Faced with the challenge of surfacing from social isolation, I turned to nature for guidance in the act of metamorphism and the advent of new life phases. These pieces were created in sync with the 2021 emergence of the Brood X cicadas, a way of seeking solstice in the constancy of natural cycles.
